After The Examiner revealed that hundreds of elderly and disabled Southeast Texans were targeted in a scam to bilk needy citizens with promises of a federal stimulus check, a search warrant was executed at the Port Arthur home of one of the suspected perpetrators.

Thursday, Aug. 23, The Salvation Army Boys & Girls of Beaumont will host its first annual Hope For Tomorrow Luncheon and Style Show at the Garden Center at Beaumont Botanical Gardens in Tyrrell Park. The community is invited to this event for an afternoon of food, fashion, fellowship and fundraising.

Beaumont nonprofit aids children of incarcerated

 

Former Federal Bureau of Prisons warden Percy Pitzer and his wife, Sununt Pitzer, have recently launched a foundation to benefit children of an incarcerated or paroled parent or guardian. Creative Corrections Education Foundation’s goal is to “stem the pattern of repeat behavior from parent to child through educational opportunities.”
