A 45-year-old Port Arthur man was arrested Tuesday, June 18 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Port Arthur Police received a call around 7:40 p.m. claiming that a man was seen with a gun at the 700 block of 18th Street in Port Arthur. Several officers responded to the scene and saw a black male walking away from the area. According to a press release by PAPD, when the man spotted the officers, he fled and after a short foot chase was detained.

Close to 1800 people showed up to Claiborne West Park on Friday, June 14 to take part in the 19th Annual Cops and Kids event for Orange County.
