Attention, boys and girls!

Hope lives in the heart … On Thursday, Aug. 23, The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs of Beaumont will host its Hope for Tomorrow Luncheon and Style Show at the beautiful Tyrrell Park Botanical Garden Center. The community is invited to this event for an afternoon of food, fashion fellowship and fundraising with the heartwarming theme ‘LEARN from Yesterday, LIVE for Today and HOPE for Tomorrow.” Macy’s is providing fashions for guest models, Beaumont ISD students and members of the Boys & Girls Club. Students selected to model were nominated by a teacher based on academic achievement and community service during the 2011-12 school year. As an added benefit, several local celebrities have been asked to model, as well. This event will help raise funds as well as foster awareness for a much-needed expansion of the Boys & Girls Club building at 2350 I-10 E. This proposed addition will dramatically enhance efforts to provide the very best afterschool and summer programs available for the youth of Beaumont. The Hope for Tomorrow luncheon kicks off at 10:45 a.m., when guests will be invited to shop gently used merchandise and new items in the silent auction. The luncheon and style show is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 pm. Reserved seats are $50. For more information, contact judy_keifstrom [at] uss [dot] salvationary [dot] org.

Brotherly love … The Danna/Parigi brothers celebrated their 10th annual get together two weeks after the Fourth of July holiday at the beachienda of Pam and Leo Danna. Every summer, the brothers, brothers-in-law, sons and sons-in-law spend a weekend at the shore playing horseshoes, poker and enjoying good ol’ quality time together. The patriarch of this clan, Sam Danna Sr. (“Pop” to those near and dear) turned 90 at the first of the month and was thrilled to celebrate this yearly weekend gathering with his family including sons Leo and grandsons Matthew, Seth and Leo Jr., son Jimmy and grandson Justus, son Sam Jr. and grandson Jason, son-in-law Gerard Parigi and grandsons Sam and Patrick (who flew in from Hawaii for this enjoyable event). To round out the weekend, Sam Sr. and Leo were the winners of the always-competitive horseshoe tournament. Fantastic family fun will certainly provide the group with a lifetime memories.
