Legendary comedic duo Cheech & Chong have Beaumont date booked
Grammy Award winning comedic duo Cheech & Chong will headline the Up In Smoke Tour on Friday, Aug. 22 at Ford Arena. On sale ticket information will be announced at a later date. Also performing will be American funk band, War.
Richard “Cheech” Marin and Tommy Chong met in Vancouver during the late 60s and moved to Los Angeles and released their first self-titled comedy album in 1971 and went on to release 10 more. Many of their skits became classics like “Dave’s Not Here,” “Sister Mary Elephant” and “Basketball Jones.” Their 1985 hit song, “Born in East L.A.” led to a movie, which starred Cheech as the lead role.
Once the comedic albums became popular, film opportunities came rolling in beginning in 1978 with “Up in Smoke,” “Cheech & Chong’s Next Movie,” “Nice Dreams,” “Still Somkin,” “Cheech & Chong’s The Corsican Brothers,” “Cheech & Chong’s Animated Movie” and the duo recently announced they would film a sequel to “Up in Smoke.”
California funk band War released their first record in 1970 and released 60 singles to radio including the classics “Low Rider,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends,” “The Cisco Kid,” “Spill the Wine,” “War” and “Summer.”
