In recent days, I attended another college graduation, completing my 35th year as a college faculty member. For many, an appropriate college education is a key to personal success, while many others may benefit from other forms of education.

How do I deal with negative reviews about my business on the Internet or negative feedback on Facebook?

One of the biggest concerns I’ve heard from clients and potential clients is the potential for negative feedback and reviews that comes with online marketing. I’ve even seen businesses downright refuse to market online because of it.

I have long been a proponent of free software. Much of the free software available is often as good, if not superior to, its commercial competitors. Many of the free software products are written by altruistic individuals in order to solve a particular problem or to fill a specific niche, while many others are free versions of commercial software where the publisher hopes that the users will be so satisfied with the free version that they willfully upgrade to the paid version, which often offers additional features.

Q. I have stopped paying my car note. The debt has been turned over to a collection agency. The collection agency is now threatening to sue me for the full amount I owe. I told them to come and get the car, but they refused. Do they have to take the car back when I don’t pay?

There are many excellent and free image editors available that are fully capable of performing most simple image editing tasks. My personal favorite simple image editor is the free IrfanView (irfanview.com) capable of the common imaging editing tasks such as cropping, removing red-eye, and performing color corrections and related enhancements. But you need to do much more than simple photo editing, such as producing creative enhancements and other artistic effects.

The loving tribute to my friend of more than half a century, Sarah Grubbs, was written by Sarah’s daughter, Jan Grubbs Beasley. Jan has been married 49 years to Melvin Beasley and has three children and six grandchildren. She is retired from CSX Transportation as senior director, Labor Relations, and has been a children’s Sunday school teacher for 51 years. Sarah changed her address to Heaven on May 13, 2010.

Mother’s Day is not just a one-day-a-year thought for Staci Richards, busy mom and business owner. She thinks about it almost every day all year long. And the thinking and work she does often goes on far into many nights, as well. It also involves lots of communication, travel, gift buying, wrapping or packaging, and giving and listening. The stories she hears are amazing and ones she’ll never be able to forget.

Both my maternal and paternal grandmothers rocked in old wooden rocking chairs, and I clearly remember swinging back and forth on the old metal glider behind Mama Cole’s house. She had placed the glider near the back of the house where the afternoon shade gave us some relief from the hot Georgia sun and where we could observe her beautiful garden growing. It was there that I learned the basic facts of life and that she loved me with an unconditional and undying love.

As a user of alternative telephone services for several years, I have been very satisfied with their performance. All of them use some variety of VoIP, or Voice over Internet Protocol, to send voice-grade telephone conversations over the Internet, terminating at the recipient’s local phone service (landline or cellular), which ultimately connects the call to his or her local phone. Over the years I have used the voice features of Yahoo!
