Community leaders helped volunteers delivered more than 1,200 meals Oct. 17 as part of Nutrition & Services for Seniors fourth annual “Big Wheels” for Meals Day.Community leaders and business owners like Bo Alfred, Pat Avery, Larry and Justice of the Peace Nancy Beaulieu and many others volunteered to help ensure seniors get their lunch-time meal.

This was the second year Jefferson County Commissioner Alfred participated in “Big Wheels,” a service he says is a worthy cause close to his heart.

There is so much at stake for the residents of Jefferson County in the election that is now upon us. Not just a choice between what party will control the House and Senate, although who represents us in Washington is very important, but this hits much closer to home. We are making decisions that will have an immediate effect on the quality of life in Southeast Texas.
