We all react differently to each life stage as we maneuver through the years God has assigned to us. I learn something new or different every day of my life, and I pray that I never stop learning and growing as I travel on my journey.

These rainy days here in our beloved Southeast Texas have been good thinking days for me. While I hunger to get outside to the water or the beach, the weather has kept me in and I can only look out the window to see the waves, but boy, can I think.

The weather here in Southeast Texas has been rainy and a bit dreary for the past several days. Clouds overhead are gray and threatening, and we’ve had a good bit of rain. The inclement weather has kept folks from doing much of what they love. Getting fishing gear ready, travel trailers roadworthy, boats checked, lawns trimmed and manicured for spring viewing, some outside painting, and work in colorful flowerbeds has been put on hold.

I have always loved America, my home country, and our entire family is very patriotic. Never in my life have I been more proud of this great nation than I was last weekend while visiting Great Lakes Naval Station in North Chicago, Illinois. If you think America has gone to the dogs and you are not particularly happy with any political party, try to think past those disillusions and focus for a few moments on what is really good and right about the nation we call home.
