Nine-time Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Sheryl Crow will headline the 35th Christus Health Foundation Gala on Saturday, April 18, at the Beaumont Civic Center. The black-tie benefit provides an opportunity for an intimate evening of entertainment starting with cocktails at 7 p.m. followed by a gourmet meal at 8 p.m., all leading to a world-class performance at 9:30 p.m. by Crow.
Mometrix Test Preparation presented a check to the Muscular Dystrophy Association for $10,163. During the month of August 2014, Mometrix donated 10 percent of their sales to MDA. Since 2011, Mometrix Test Preparation has raised over $40,000.
The Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School Mock Trial Team participated in the 36th annual Texas High School Mock Trial Competition in March. Twenty-eight high school teams from across Texas competed in Dallas, arguing a hypothetical court case. These teams, which emerged as the best in their school districts/regions, were matched against one another, culminating in a final championship round Saturday evening at the Earle Cabell Federal Building.
The Jefferson County Horticultural Committee members welcome you to call and register for their T-Budding and Pecan Grafting Workshop. Grafting improves the quality of the pecans growing on a tree. The workshop is going to be led by none other than Bonnie Childers. Bonnie, or “B.L.,” could write a book on the subject. He is an extremely well-respected area gardening expert who has tackled this subject for years for the good folks of this community.
