The city of Beaumont has named Demi Engman as the new director of Planning and Community Development. This position was formerly held by Chris Boone who became assistant city manager over Community Services in November 2022.
Engman was hired as a planner in the Planning and Community Development Department in 2018 and was promoted to Planning Manager in January 2023. Engman will now be responsible for overseeing the Planning, Building Codes, Code Enforcement and CDBG/Housing Divisions, as well as the city's transit system.
“Demi will bring her wealth of experience and talents to this important role,” said Boone. “We look forward to her leadership in this position.”
Engman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Planning from State University of New York at Binghamton and a Master of Public Administration degree from Lamar University.  She is a member of the American Planning Association and the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association.
“I’m excited to be able to lead this department and to help propel community development forward,” Engman said. “I want to show people the good things we’re doing and bring in new initiatives for the city.”
